Downtown Toronto Custom Apartment Units
The exterior walls of this complex received 3 layers of 5/8” Type X drywall to meet architectural requirements. The party walls received 2 layers of 5/8” Type X drywall on both sides of the wall as per the developers added requirement. Ceilings between separate units were also 2 layers of 5/8” Type X installed on resilient channels to ensure greater resistance to fire and noise.
This project required greater understanding of building codes, constant coordination between client, contractor, and suppliers. For example, multiple deliveries of materials was required due to tight floor spaces. Many different types of screws are used for various layers of dry walls. Careful planning was essential for smooth process and client satisfaction.
